Eric Herrera

Eric Herrera is a seasoned Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) professional and Lieutenant with the Aircraft Operations Division (AOD) of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Specializing in counter-narcotics and counter-human trafficking operations, Eric has played a critical role in utilizing drone technology to support law enforcement efforts along the South Texas border.
Eric began his UAS career with DPS in 2019 as a member of the Tactical Marine Unit before transitioning to a full-time operator role in 2022. With over 500 flight hours to his name, Eric has accumulated extensive experience in conducting surveillance and tactical operations focused on border security and public safety. His expertise has been essential in tracking illicit activities, providing real-time intelligence to ground teams, and supporting high-priority operations in high-risk environments.
