As an Assistant Police Chief for the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Department of Public Safety, Josh Cousins is currently responsible for the Special Operations Division which includes SWAT, Traffic Enforcement, Drone Operations, Bomb Squad, Canine, Hostage Negotiations, Police Training, and Police Recruiting. Josh has been with DFW Airport since 2010.
Josh enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard as a M1A1 Abrams tank crewman in 2000. He was deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004-2005 where he was Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of a Joint Operation Center in central Iraq and provided security and support for Navy EOD. Josh is a graduate of Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and holds a Master of Arts degree in security studies from the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Homeland Defense and Security.
Josh has partnered with many leaders at several other airport police and security agencies including the Israel Airports Authority in Tel Aviv and the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority in Washington D.C. to adapt and model improved security and law enforcement initiatives for policing major metropolitan airports.
