Russ Miller

Russ Miller has been a member of TX DPS for 8 years and is currently the Corporal in the Highway Patrol Service stationed in San Diego, TX. Before joining TX DPS, Cpl. Miller serviced in the US Army from 2012 – 2015. He is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice/Criminology. Cpl. Miller has been a part of the DPS sUAS program since 2020 and has successfully completed the DPS Daytime RPIC school, Ambient school, and Thermal school. He is also certified in Drop Payload Delivery and completed the Basic NIST Open Lane Proctor school.
Since the start of Operation Lone Star, Cpl. Miller has had numerous deployments all along the Texas southern border participating in drone operations in support of DPS Brush Operations/Teams. Back at his home duty station in San Diego, he is involved with drone operations ranging from Crash Reconstruction, Search and Rescue Operations, assisting Texas Rangers in various mapping scenes, or assisting different agencies with any needed drone operations. He regularly instructs many of the Departments Daytime and Thermal RPIC schools. Cpl. Miller has many hours experience in the following platforms: DJI Mavic 2 Pro, DJI Mavic 3T, DJI M30T, Autel Evo-II, and Autel EVO 4T.
