Profile

Shay Major serves as a Data Analytics Engineer for the MITRE Corporation and a Project Leader for the MITRE National Range. Her expertise in UAS and C-UAS technology stems from her academic background in intelligence analysis. She obtained a Master’s degree in Intelligence Analysis from Johns Hopkins University in 2024 and during her degree program she focused on information sharing, public safety mission sets, and the advancement and integration of technology for homeland security use-cases. Professionally, Shay has hands-on experience in connecting industry, academia, public safety, and government stakeholders to collaborate on emerging threats and potential solutions. At the MITRE National Range over the past year, Shay and her team have focused on test and evaluation, detection of UAS, and remote sensing. Additionally, Shay has played an integral role in connecting MITRE with public safety partners who are working to develop innovative DFR programs and understand the challenges of countering emerging UAS threats.

Her commitment to public safety has been influenced by her parents’ careers in law enforcement, which instilled in her the desire to protect communities. Her degrees in Political Science, International Relations, and Intelligence Analysis allow her to apply diverse perspectives to complex mission sets and effectively communicate the changing landscape of the UAS and C-UAS fields to a variety of stakeholders.
